Educational Background

Dr. Alberti received her PhD in Nursing with a Health Promotion focus at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.  Her dissertation focus was on health literacy and information seeking behaviors in an urgent care population.  She received her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner and Community Health from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Fitchburg State College.


Dr. Alberti, an Assistant Professor and the Coordinator for the Family Nurse Practitioner Specialty, joined the Graduate School of Nursing at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 2012.  Her dissertation research investigated the “Association of Health Literacy and Information Seeking Behaviors with the Adherence of Discharge Instructions from an Urgent Care Setting”.  Dr. Alberti was prepared as a family nurse practitioner with a Masters of Science in Nursing and Community Health at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.  She received her Bachelors in Science in Nursing from Fitchburg State College.  She has taught health assessment at the Bachelors level and currently teaches Maternal Child Health for the FNP, Family Nurse Practitioner Primary Care and Theory I and II.

As a family nurse practitioner, Dr. Alberti has over 15 years’ experience working in family practice, emergency medicine, pediatric and adult urgent care settings.  In addition to teaching at UMass Worcester, she currently practices as a Nurse Practitioner caring for patients of all ages in an Urgent Care clinic north of Boston.  Her clinical experiences have inspired her interest in health communication, health literacy and advanced practice nursing education.
