Educational Background
Dr. Omanand Koul received his M. Sc. (Zoology, Genetics), and Ph.D. in Zoology ( Biochemistry of Aging) from the Banaras Hindu University, India. He has held research fellowships at the Shriver Center, Harvard Medical School, Stony Brook, McLean Hospital, Eleanor Roosevelt Institute, and Boston University.

Dr. Omanand Koul has been researching molecular alterations during development of the nervous system, and pathophysiology of single gene and complex neurological disorders. He has published and presented research work on formation of myelin, lysosomal disorders, schizophrenia, autism, multiple sclerosis, fetal alcohol syndrome, and pharmacokinetics of drugs.  He has also developed novel methodologies for analysis of various biochemicals in the nervous system. Currently he is interested in the identification of biomarkers for schizophrenia and autism. During 1996, he served as a Visiting Professor in Physiology at the Institute Michel Pacha University of Lyon1, France.
