Carol Bova PhD, RN, ANP

HIV, patient decision-making, patient-provider trust, measurement and scale development, research-focused doctoral education
Carol received her BS in Nursing from Salem State College in 1979, MS in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1988 and her PhD in Nursing from Boston College in 1998. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University, School of Nursing from 1999 through 2001.
Dr. Carol Bova is an adult nurse practitioner with experience in the care of adults with HIV infection. Her program of research has focused on the emerging primary care needs of HIV-infected adults; in particular she has conducted funded studies that focus on women with HIV infection, HIV/HCV co-infection, the interaction of substance abuse, mental illness and HIV infection, adherence behaviors, and patient-provider trust. Carol is the director of the PhD program in Nursing at the University of Massachusetts Worcester.
