The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) at the University of Massachusetts Medical School is comprised of three divisions:
The PhD programs within the GSBS train students in their selected specialty area and emphasize a broad background in the basic medical sciences, in preparation for research with direct relevance to human disease.
Graduates are equipped to collaborate with scientists and physicians involved in basic research and clinical investigations and are prepared to initiate careers as researchers in schools of the health professions, government or in the biotechnology industry.
