About Office of Global Health
The UMMS Office of Global Health (OGH) was founded in 2009 to enhance and expand UMMS research and training programs in global health improvement and disease prevention. Specific goals include the following:
- Create an organizational structure that identifies and addresses the challenges of developing and conducting global health training, research, and service projects.
- Work with the medical, graduate, and nursing schools and other UMass campuses to create programs that will rigorously prepare trainees for careers in global health.
- Administer grant programs that provide seed money for innovative research and educational programs. A pilot project grant program serves to catalyze the development of interdisciplinary translational research projects that provide a firm scientific base for clinical practice and public health policy. Travel grant programs facilitate the training of global health researchers and care providers through participation in clinical and research activities.
We invite you to explore the UMMS Global Health website, where you will find policies and information on international travel, a calendar of global health seminars and events, and links to internal and external resources (including funding opportunities). We hope that you will join us in our efforts to make a global difference!
