Walk to Cure Cancer Team Leader Breakfast on Thursday, June 24
This year’s walk will take place on Sunday, September 26. The goal is to attract 15,000 participants and raise $1 million.
Plans for the 12th Annual Walk to Cure Cancer are underway across UMass Medical School and UMass Memorial Health Care. This year’s Kick Off Team Leader Breakfast will be held on Thursday, June 24, from 8 to 9 a.m. in the Lazare Research Building on the University campus. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.
Michael Blute, MD, professor of surgery and director of the Cancer Center of Excellence, will discuss redefining success in cancer care; cancer survivors will share their stories; researchers will discuss recent scientific advancements; and the top WTCC teams from 2009 will be celebrated.
The annual breakfast is an opportunity for new volunteers to learn about how they can make a difference as team leaders, walkers or volunteers. Team leader kits, which are distributed at the breakfast, include information and supplies for building a successful walk team. All proceeds from the walk go toward cancer research and treatment at UMMS and UMass Memorial. This year’s walk will take place on Sunday, September 26. The goal is to attract 15,000 participants and raise $1 million.
