Make plans to get involved in the annual Walk to Cure Cancer
The 12th annual Walk to Cure Cancer will take place on Sunday, September 26. Each year, the walk has grown in size, scope and impact, and is now the largest single-day fundraising event in Central Massachusetts, having raised more than $6 million since its inception. More significantly, the walk has become a signature community event and a powerful public demonstration of care, compassion and hope. This year’s goal is to attract 15,000 participants and raise $1 million to support cancer research at UMass Medical School and patient care at the UMass Memorial Cancer Center of Excellence.
Members of the UMMS-UMass Memorial Medical Center community are an essential part of the success of this fundraising event, last year, raising more than $100,000. There are a number of ways to participate, including becoming a team leader for your department or floor, volunteering to walk on an organized team, volunteering to help the walk staff or inviting your family and friends to support this important community event.
If you’d like to get involved, make plans to attend the annual Kick-Off Breakfast on Thuirsday, June 24, at 8 a.m. in the Lazare Research Building Blais Pavilion
