Welcome to Fitchburg Family Medicine!

Our program continues its tradition of providing superior Family Medicine residency training in the North Worcester County area as it has for nearly 30 years. 
 
Here are a few highlights about our innovative program:

  • UMass is ranked as one of the top 10 academic centers for Primary Care.
  • Our residency is community-based.
  • We recognize the importance of family and quality of life for our residents.
  • We are dually accredited by the ACGME and by the AOA.
  • Our health center is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center. We are very excited that our new health center building is currently under construction and will open in 2012.  Learn more here!) 
  • Our health center provides up to $5,000 for medical school loan assistance.
  • Our Behavioral Health Department is nationally recognized.

Application season has officially begun!

May buildingNew Health Center Construction Continues! Another milestone was reached in May with a "Topping Off Ceremony" which placed a flag atop our new health center building on its way to its January 2012 opening. View photos of the building in progress!

Dr. Nic Apostoleris, Assistant Professor and Vice President of Behavioral Health & ACTION Health Center Director received the 2nd Annual John A. DeMalia Leadership Award at our health center's (CHC) annual meeting. The award recognizes “leadership, vision, dedication, commitment, integrity, and respect for others.” CHC's Board of Directors selects the award winner based on nominations submitted by the staff.

Our residency was delighted to host Roland Goertz, MD, President of the American Academy of Family Physicians at our recent  MassAFP meeting. Dr. Goertz met with our Fitchburg residents and faculty during our business meeting. Tim Lowney, PGY-1, was also appointed as resident representative to the Board of Directors at that meeting.
