This rotation is based at Health Alliance's Emergency Department. During this month, you will work directly with the ED attendings. On a typical day, you can hand pick the cases that you are most interested in, see the patients, present to the attending and discuss the plan. Your main responsibility is to learn as much as possible as you are not essential to patient care (meaning that the rotation is relatively low stress.)
You will have many opportunities to suture lacerations and be involved in limb reductions, intubations, etc. Although the attendings are busy, almost all of them are enthusiastic about teaching. By working in our ED, you will get to know our attendings well and will see them often for admissions while on hospital service. This rotation is a great opportunity to learn with low pressure/responsibilities. You can see patients that you pick at your own pace and learn as much as possible while doing so.
