Academic Role: Assistant Professor
Faculty Appointment(s) and Affiliations:

 Katharine Barnard, MD

Current Positions

I hold joint appointments as faculty of the UMass-Worcester Family Medicine Residency and as Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health.  Most of my teaching is in the clinical settings of Hahnemann Family Health Center or my own clinical practice at Plumley Village Health Services.

Education

2000 - 2003         Family Practice Residency, Univ. of Massachusetts, Worcester MA

2002 - 2004         Teaching of Tomorrow series, UMass Community Faculty Development Center

1996 - 2000         Doctor of Medicine, Univ. of Massachusetts, Worcester MA

1991 - 1995         Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies, Brown University, Providence RI

Affiliations

My clinical practice is exclusively at Plumley Village Health Services, a satellite clinic located within the Plumley Village housing project in downtown Worcester.  The clinic was founded to help bring appropriate, accessible care to this largely low income and Spanish-speaking population.  I enjoy the large volume of pediatric and women’s health care that we provide.  Current projects involve issues such as assisting with prescription drug access for uninsured patients, and ensuring that female patients are provided routine screening regardless of ability to pay.  The clinic is affiliated with Hahnemann Family Health Center, one of the UMass-Worcester Family Medicine Residency training sites.
