Food assistance programs and financial counselors are a couple of the services available free for area residents. Click below for more information!

Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC):
WIC is a free program that provides healthy foods, nutrition and health information to Massachusetts' families who qualify. WIC is for all kinds of families: married and single parents, working or not working. If you are a father, mother, grandparent, foster parent or other legal guardian of a child under 5, you can apply for WIC for your child.  WIC representatives are here twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month in our Conference room at the Barre Family Health Center.

The Barre Food Bank at the Christ Episcopal Church in South Barre is humbled to accept many donations this spring and summer from a wide variety of generous donors. The Food Bank serves over 80 families from Barre, Oakham, New Braintree and Wheelwright with monthly emergency food assistance on the second Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m-12 noon at the Christ Episcopal Church at 499 Vernon Ave., South Barre. 2010 Barre Food Bank Distribution Dates: September 8, October 13, November 10,, December 8.  For emergency assistance OR food donations, call Dave @ (978) 355-4519. 

UMass Financial Counselor: A financial counselor is available to assist patients with MassHealth, WIC, SNAP (Food Stamps), MassHealth Disability and Social Security applications. The counselor is also ready to help with Commonwealth Care and MassHealth enrollment programs. You can meet our counselor at the Barre Family Health Center every Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at 978-355-3051, Extension 30113.
