Dr. Dugan is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and faculty affiliate of the Meyers Primary Care Institute. She holds an adjunct faculty position at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, in the Public Health Sciences Division.

Her research follows two threads.  First, is understanding the older patient-healthcare provider relationship (specifically, patient trust). Achieving a better understanding of this relationship should lead to improvements in the quality of care.  She completed an intervention study to help primary care providers talk about and evaluate older driver fitness.  This research led to her book, The Driving Dilemma.  The second thread of research is women's health (e.g., breast cancer, maternal mortality, urinary incontinence).  She and her team are now working on a study to help the Commonwealth of Massachusetts address the mental health care needs of older community dwelling adults.

Dr. Dugan teaches the Scientific Writing course (CPH 701) and welcomes the opportunity to mentor highly-motivated students.
