Potential Rotation Projects
-
We have generated Drosophila models that overexpress dNrdp1 and demonstrate that overexpresion of dNrdp1 induces serveral Parkinson's disease like phenotypes. The rotation project is to identify genetic suppressors/enhancers of dNrdp1 induced phenotypes.
-
We have identified Drosophila models with a p-element insertion in Nrdp1 intron 1 (hypomorphic). The rotation project would be to generate dNrdp1 null mutants using p-element hopping.
-
Examination of Nrdp1 expression in brain tissues using Western blot analysis and immunocytochemistry.
-
Identification and characterization of compounds/drugs that modulate splicing of mRNA in SMN, tau and/or BACE1 gene using cell based assays (luciferase).
