Potential Rotation Projects

Project #1: Ankyrin gene transfer for murine hemolytic anemia
The aim of this study is to transfer by lentiviral vector the cDNA for murine ankyrin to hematopoietic progenitors from a mouse with a naturally occurring defect in ankyrin in an effort to correct the underlying spherocytic hemolytic anemia.

Project #2: Glucocerebrosidase gene transfer for Gaucher disease
The aim of this study is to optimize transfer and expression of the glucocerebrosidase cDNA in normal murine and human hematopoietic cells, and to develop a chimeric mutant model utilizing defective cells engrafted in mice as a target for correcting the defect.
