E*Value is a web-based evaluation system designed to manage, collate, and analyze our curriculum, student evaluations of our curriculum and its teachers and faculty evaluations of our students.

E*Value is a web-based application which allows users to submit evaluations from an active internet connection.

E*Value modules allow for some level of customization by school, program and participant and provide real-time reporting tools to active users.

Information Services also provides E*Value training workshops including how to access real time reports.

If you have forgotten your login or password go to the login screen (https://www.e-value.net). You can obtain your login name and password from the E*Value web-site by clicking on the "Forget Password?" link in the top right portion of the screen and follow the instructions using the email address to which this notice was sent.

Information Services has created tutorials for users and provides training on a regular basis.

You will receive requests to evaluate students and courses. Your involvement in course evaluations will be limited to reviewing evaluations of your own teaching, research performance of your student mentees and (in the case of small group facilitators or preceptors) evaluating the performance of your students. E*Value will first ask students to identify their faculty, then uses this information to request that you complete performance evaluation of your students. The system will email you when evaluations are due and will continue to do so until the evaluations are completed.

Simply click “suspend” and indicate that you did not work with this student in the comment box, then click submit. The evaluation will be removed from your queue.

If you are precepting a student in a small group or clinical setting you will automatically receive an evaluation request once the student identifies you as their preceptor in the E*Value system.

If you are mentoring a student in research you will receive an evaluation at the end of each research session. However, you will not receive the evaluation until the student identifies you as their mentor in the E*Value system. You should remind that student to complete their task.

If you are a lecturer in a course, you can access “real time” evaluation reports of your teaching once 3 students have submitted evaluations. This number is required in order to protect student identity. These reports may include quantitative and qualitative data. Institutional Research, Evaluation, & Assessment (IREA) will continue to provide full reports to the course coordinators once the full dataset has been collected.

Given that reports are in “real time” and not immediately reviewed by the academic leaders or IREA, please ensure that any immediate or pressing student concerns are discussed/addressed with appropriate course co-leaders and/or program director.

Students receive information regarding providing appropriate and effective feedback from their peers who serve as curriculum committee representatives, as well as from the SOM educational administration and as part of their regular coursework. Should you receive any feedback that you believe to be inappropriate please forward it to your course co-leaders and/or program director. You can also contact the dean or dean’s designate of your school.

As you know, we track our student’s research performance in order to provide timely advice and comments on their research efforts. Without your assessment of their accomplishments, they do not know whether they are doing well or the areas in which they need to improve. Your assessment of their work is, therefore, vitally important.

As you know, student grades are due within two weeks of the conclusion of any academic activity. Timely faculty assessments are a key element of success in reaching this accreditation standard.

If you do not assess your student’s performance in a timely manner, there are several administrative consequences: 1) Your student will not receive a grade and will not be able to use your feedback for future improvement; 2) Course faculty or advisors may not be able to intervene with or recommend additional support for students who could benefit from such; 3) School accreditation will be threatened.

If you do not assess your student’s progress in research training in a timely manner, there are several administrative consequences: 1) Your student will not receive a grade and will be unable to register for the next semester; 2) The Education Effort Assessment team will assume the teaching never took place thereby reducing the teaching hours assigned to you and to your department resulting in a smaller education budget for your department next year. 3) The absence of a written evaluation regarding student research performance would delay any disciplinary actions based on unsatisfactory performance.
