Overview:

UMass Memorial LifeFlight provides nurse/paramedic staffed air medical response to New England. The first dedicated air medical program established in New England [September 1982], Life Flight currently operates a state-of-the-art EC-135 aircraft and a dedicated ground ambulance for local missions during inclement weather. The program typically transports about 600 patients annually. Emergency Medicine residents acquire a significant portion of their EMS-related training while observing on Life Flight and providing medical control and education to the flight crews. Attending staff and fellows also participate as Flight Physicians providing education and program leadership.
