Centering the Margins: Navigating the Veteran Experience in Health care
Please join Kevin Lambert, MA, founder and principal consultant at Eagle Eye Consulting and Training, for a compelling conversation on the systemic challenges and opportunities in caring for our veteran community. This virtual session will explore the unique cultural and clinical needs of those who have served and the perspectives that are often overlooked within civilian health care and medical education.
We will examine how a lack of military cultural humility can impact patient trust, provider attitudes and the management of service-connected health outcomes. Through the lens of equity and person-centered care, our speaker will unpack the implications of the "invisible wounds" of service, the importance of inclusive language in clinical intake, and strategies for fostering respectful, evidence-based care for veterans and their families. Participants will be invited to reflect on how centering the lived experiences of veterans can reshape clinical training and promote healing environments that bridge the gap between military and civilian life, ultimately advancing dignity, compassion and justice in health care. All are welcome!
