The mission of UMass Memorial Children's Medical Center is to improve the health of infants, children and adolescents within Central New England through the delivery of family-centered care, excellence in education and research, and the advocacy, support and promotion of children’s health.

Did you know that UMass Memorial is the largest pediatric care provider in Central Massachusetts? The CMC cares for over 32,000 children in the emergency room and more than 60,000 children through primary care and subspecialty clinics each year.

A "hospital within a hospital" the CMC is home to the only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level One Trauma Center in central New England, where specialists are ready 24 hours a day to treat children with life-threatening medical, surgical and trauma care needs.

As an internationally recognized Newborn Intensive Care Unit, the NICU provides specialized care to the region’s smallest and most critically ill patients.

Child life specialists strive to create a positive experience for pediatric patients and their families by engaging children in activities that minimize the stress and anxiety of hospitalization and procedures.

The Cystic Fibrosis Center serves as a clinical research site to advance treatment and it provides some of the best pediatric respiratory care in the nation.

A nationally recognized Children’s Diabetes Center follows 700 children with type 1 diabetes. As part of the Diabetes Center of Excellence, it is one of the largest centers in Massachusetts and the only American Diabetes Association-approved center in the region.

World-class researchers are partnering with children and their families to better understand early onset bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and autism. Their goal is to improve interventions and supports that offer new hope to families affected by these health issues.

As one of only 45 participating centers for the landmark National Children’s Study, UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center is contributing to the future health of the nation and bringing the latest prevention and treatment options to patients and their families.
