Become a DERC Member
The Diabetes and Endocrinology Research Center (DERC) is a community of investigators, from a multitude of disciplines, with a focus on solving problems associated with diabetes.
We provide priority access to state-of-the-art facilities in a cost-effective way to facilitate our research endeavors and we promote the communication of information among our various groups.
If you are interested in joining this dynamic collaborative, please send the following:
1. A letter to Dr. Michael Czech, Chair of the Executive Committee, requesting consideration for membership.
The letter should contain your research interest as it pertains to diabetes and/or endocrinology and a list of which DERC Scientific Cores you would use.
Here is a sample membership application letter
for your review; it is only example of possible content.
2. Your Biosketch including Other Support in NIH 398 format (including dollar value and per cent effort).
Membership applications are reviewed by the Executive Committee at the monthly meetings, which are generally held on the first Monday of the month.
Receipt of application material in advance of the meeting is requested to facilitate review by the committee. The next UMass DERC Executive Committee Meeting will be held on November 23, 2009.
The Diabetes and Endocrinology Research Center (DERC) is a P30 Center and the National Institute of Health and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIH/NIDDK) funding designation is P30 5 DK32520. Please refer to the NIH/NIDDK website for more information about Diabetes Centers.
