HealthAlliance Hospital is a medium-sized community hospital that hosts our family medicine residency as its only teaching service. Residents and students enjoy a dynamic team approach to care with coverage of patients within the full scope of family medicine inpatient practice. This includes adult medical admissions for the residency practice and several community family physicians, including our admissions to the critical care unit. The service also covers our maternity and newborn patients and all pediatric admissions to the hospital.
First-year residents quickly find this to be their home rotation assignment and develop strong inpatient care management skills under supervision of our faculty physicians and senior residents. Second and third year residents cover the service 24/7 and also provide support to the Maternity Unit and the Rapid Response Teams. The residents are challenged with the breadth of service responsibilities, coverage of acute medical problems, and progressive responsibilities in teaching and learner supervision. Residents work with attending physicians and with Dr. Felix Chang, who serves as Inpatient Director, overseeing morning report and rounds.
HealthAlliance was again recognized as a 2011 winner of Health Cares’ Most Wireless Award! For three years in a row, we are the only community hospital to receive this award. (One of 25 Most Wireless hospitals selected from 1,314 hospitals nationwide!)
And we just received notification that HealthAlliance was rated Safest Hospital in MA according to a new survey in Consumer Reports magazine. Read all about it here!
