UMass Medicine Cares

Every day, in ways as varied as they are numerous, members of the UMass Medical School (UMMS) community are actively and passionately engaged in the communities where they live, work and study. This work in our towns and neighborhoods, our schools and our communities, is as important as what we do in the classroom, the clinic and the laboratory. To underscore this importance, we record our service efforts and initiatives over the course of the year and report to the community on our work.

Community Service

The spirit of engagement that exists at UMMS is impressive. As an institution, we are deeply committed to enriching the surrounding communities. In this section of our Web site, you will find just a few of the compelling stories that illustrate the ways we are enhancing health and science education, ensuring community health, building a diverse workforce and enriching lives.

Public Service

Fulfilling a large portion of the UMMS public service mission to improve health outcomes for those served by public health and human service agencies is Commonwealth Medicine. Through innovative consulting and service models that apply the knowledge and resources of the UMMS, this division has helped increase the value and quality of health care expenditures, and improve access and delivery of care to at-risk and uninsured populations.
