Training Bridge

Training

Commonwealth Medicine, the health care consulting division of UMass Medical School, is dedicated to providing health-related training to diverse groups of people — students, health care providers, child welfare workers, patients, and families.

The style of what we offer varies from one-on-one consulting to group workshops or lectures, from post-graduate residencies to community- or office-based seminars. The underlying theme, however, remains the same. By continuously training a variety of organizations and individuals, we transmit ideas that are then implemented repeatedly and in a multitude of settings. This extends the reach of our experts and furthers our efforts to improve health care practice and policies for all.

Community-Centric Engagement
We facilitate cooperative efforts among diverse groups. Sharing expertise, knowledge, and resources between public and private sector organizations helps create positive change in health care. We believe that care can also be improved by increasing health care workers’ ability to communicate across cultures and by encouraging young people from varied backgrounds to choose health care careers.

Clinical Training
Our experts offer innovative training designed to improve communication between clinicians, staff, and patients — with the ultimate goal of enhancing patient care. Our team is also dedicated to supporting HIV/AIDS education efforts in community-based centers throughout New England, as well as within the Massachusetts Department of Correction.

Professional Development
Our wide range of professional development programming includes health care compliance and project management training for employees, foster care and adoption education for child welfare professionals, and post-graduate programs for pharmacists.
