Research
Researchers at Commonwealth
Medicine, the health care consulting division of UMass Medical School, have
made advances that are essential to the improvement of public health
care. As they work to help the most vulnerable among us, these researchers draw on their years of experience as well as on the expertise of their colleagues within the Commonwealth Medicine
division and throughout UMass Medical School.
This atmosphere of collaboration enables our expert staff to come up with
unique approaches to study design — and fresh perspectives when it comes to evaluating
results. Our current projects span the following areas:
Evaluation and Measurement
Our team offers clients cutting-edge evaluation and measurement resources coupled
with dedication to a public service mission.
Health Information Technology
We facilitate the development and seamless integration of new technology,
while placing a high priority on continued privacy and security standards.
Health Policy Research
Our researchers examine the wider impact of proposed and existing health policies.
Long-Term Care
We work to improve the health — and quality of life — of people in long-term
care through the practical application of research that has shown the benefits of community
living.
Populations
Our research programs encompass the needs of many different underserved and
under-represented populations.
Research Topics
We delve into topics that are essential to public health care — subjects important
to those served by the system and those who are involved in operating it.
Disability and Employment Policy Research
Through a major federal grant, we are studying ways to increase employment opportunities and improve outcomes for people with disabilities. We are examining, and working to overcome, the obstacles they face in joining the workforce.
