Martha Henry from Commonwealth Medicine's Center for Adoption Research Spoke on the Today Show

 

On Monday September 4th, Martha Henry, PhD, from Commonwealth Medicine's Center for Adoption Research, was a featured guest on a live segment of NBC's Today Show. Martha discussed a variety of adoption topics including steps to adopting, types of adoptions and stats/costs, avoiding scams, and take away tips.


Martha Henry, Ph.D., is the Director of Education and Training at the Center for Adoption Research. She received her master's and doctoral degrees in developmental psychology from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts.  Her background in developmental psychology informs her work with developing adoption and foster care curriculum and trainings for medical, social service, and educational professionals, as well as for families. She has developed a course and seminars for medical students regarding health care practice and implications for adoption and foster care. She is currently the lead author on a national guide about adoption with a special focus on the behavioral and medical health needs of children adopted from foster care, domestically, and internationally. She has been involved in the design, data collection, analysis, and reporting of many Center-based research and evaluation project.
