Commonwealth Medicine is a public, non-profit consulting and service organization guided by a mission to help state agencies and health care organizations optimize the effectiveness of health care initiatives that serve the underserved in their communities. Our innovative consulting and service models apply the knowledge and resources of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and we proudly offer our state and federal public sector colleagues and non-profit clients access to an unparalleled depth and breadth of academic, research, management and clinical resources.

Commonwealth Medicine programs have helped Massachusetts and many other state and local health care agencies increase the value and quality of health care expenditures, and improve access and delivery of care to at-risk and uninsured populations.

Commonwealth Medicine employs more than 1,600 people in more than 30 towns and communities. Although we are part of the Medical School, our functions, services and reach go beyond academia. Our employees include researchers, finance professionals, clinicians, pharmacists, project managers, analysts, administrators, program developers, and support staff.
