Public Provider Claiming
Many health care and administrative services provided by schools, hospitals and other public entities are eligible for federal reimbursement but go unclaimed by state Medicaid agencies. Center for Health Care Financing programs, residing in the University of Massachusetts Medical School's Commonwealth Medicine division, ensure organizations are claiming for all reimbursable Medicaid services.
Our consultants are skilled in identifying a broad range of eligible costs in both administrative and program-related services, to ensure states are properly claiming all appropriate federal reimbursements. Once identified, our staff draws upon its expertise and knowledge in claiming methodologies to develop claiming rates that accurately reflect the true cost of state services provided. This makes certain the state is claiming all possible reimbursements at the most accurate rate.
One example is our highly successful School-Based Claiming program, which helps state and local education agencies receive federal reimbursement for administrative services provided to special education students.
