Health Care Financing Strategies
As part of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, we apply our in-depth knowledge of government financing structures for the benefit of our non-profit and public agency clients. Commonwealth Medicine’s Center for Health Care Financing consultants analyze human service entitlement programs to identify areas eligible for enhanced or supplemental federal reimbursement. We then implement efficient, workable processes to increase reimbursements, enhancing revenue to state and local government.
For example, limited resources and experience present a challenge for states to identify reimbursement opportunities for indirect costs associated with Medicaid spending. Our staff assists states in implementing the necessary intergovernmental agreements necessary to properly capture this revenue.
In addition, some services such as family planning are eligible for reimbursements at a far greater federal matching rate, but a number of administrative factors prohibit states from seeking the funds to which they are entitled. The Center for Health Care Financing helps state agencies overcome these obstacles.
With extensive experience coordinating initiatives through the Medical School for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Center is also uniquely equipped to identify collaborative opportunities between public universities, medical schools and state Medicaid agencies to improve public health care services in states across the nation.
