As a public, nonprofit consulting and service organization, UMass Medical School’s Commonwealth Medicine division is guided by a mission to help state agencies and health care organizations optimize the effectiveness of health care initiatives for the underserved in their communities. Our innovative consulting and service models apply the knowledge and resources of both our Commonwealth Medicine division and the larger UMass Medical School community. We proudly offer government agencies, nonprofits, and managed care organizations access to an unparalleled depth and breadth of academic, research, management, and clinical resources.

The Commonwealth Medicine division offers programs to help state and local health care agencies — in Massachusetts and beyond — increase the value of their health care expenditures and improve access to and delivery of care to at-risk and uninsured populations.

Although we are part of UMass Medical School, our functions, services, and reach extend beyond academia. The Commonwealth Medicine division employs more than 1,900 people in more than 30 locations.
