As Associate Vice Chancellor for Health Policy Partnerships at Commonwealth Medicine, a division within the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) devoted to assisting state agencies to improve health care services delivered to vulnerable populations, Jean Sullivan oversees the activity of eight Centers for Health Policy, Finance and Research. She has more than 21 years of experience in public sector health law, finance and policy.

Prior to coming to UMMS, Ms. Sullivan served as General Counsel and Deputy Commissioner for the Massachusetts Division of Medical Assistance. In these positions, she directed all legal, state legislative and federal agency relations and financial oversight matters. Ms. Sullivan also has extensive experience in legislative reform efforts, including design and implementation of new state programs for expanded health care coverage, access and service. Her achievements have earned her the Commonwealth of Massachusett's highest public service performance award - the Manuel Carballo Governor's Award for Excellence in Public Service - four times during her career.

Ms. Sullivan earned her bachelor's degree in Experimental Psychology from Mt. Holyoke College and received her law degree from Boston University School of Law.
