As Chief of Staff, Susan Levine oversees a number of functions at Commonwealth Medicine, a division within the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) devoted to assisting state agencies to improve health care services delivered to vulnerable populations.  These functions include implementing strategic initiatives and managing research, analysis and special projects.  Ms. Levine has worked at the UMMS for the past eight years in several roles, including leading the Program Development Department, a unit she created within Commonwealth Medicine focused on health care consulting services specifically in the areas of new program development and implementation; implementing and serving as Director for the Disability Evaluation Services program; and providing oversight to the clinical service delivery programs as the Director of Clinical Programs.

Prior to joining UMMS, Ms. Levine worked for 10 years at the Department of Public Health's Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. She served in a variety of capacities, culminating in the role of Vice President for Ambulatory Care.

Ms. Levine received her bachelor's degree in Economics from Denison University and her master's degree in Public Health, with a concentration in Health Services, from Boston University.
