Jeffrey Geller, M.D.,M.P.H.
Dr. Geller is Professor of Psychiatry, Co-Director of the Policy Research Core at the CMHSR and Director of Public Sector Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. His research interests include the history of American psychiatry and its impact on contemporary practices, coercion in outpatient treatment, pathological fire-setting, and the relationship between the political process and clinical realities. Dr Geller's Focus is on translating observations from clinical work and consulting site visits/program evaluations into research questions. This approach is informed by including a historical perspective.
Ongoing Projects:
1. What can the USA learn from foreign countries about involuntary outpatient treatment?
2. Updating and expanding clinical criteria for involuntary outpatient treatment.
3. Pathological fire setting in adults: 2000-2005.
4. Examination of the relationship between where one lives and community integration: What’s a home?
