Sept. 8, 2008 – Judith Steinberg Named Senior Director, Clinical Affairs
Judith Steinberg, M.D., M.P.H., has been named Senior Director of Clinical Affairs for the Center for Health Policy and Research, part of UMass Medical School’s Commonwealth Medicine division. Dr. Steinberg will provide leadership, oversight, and strategic planning for all clinically-related programs and activities within the Center for Health Policy and Research and across Commonwealth Medicine at large.
Working closely with other clinical leaders in Commonwealth Medicine, she will be responsible for working on the development and implementation of clinical policies, guidelines and standards, mentoring and supervision of clinical leaders, and career development. She will also help develop additional linkages with the academic departments within the Medical School.
Dr. Steinberg joins the Center for Health Policy and Research from Boston University’s School of Medicine, where she was Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Disease. She was also Medical Director of Neponset Health Center, an Adult Medicine Physician and Infectious Disease Specialist at Neponset Health Center, and an Attending Physician in Internal Medicine at Carney Hospital, both in Dorchester, Mass.
She serves on the Clinical Practice and Program Committee and the HIV and Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Committee, as part of the National Association of Community Health Centers. She is a preceptor at Boston University’s School of Medicine and Adult Medicine at Neponset Health Center, Dorchester.
Her current research interests include:
- Re-valuing primary care and prevention, including reimbursement reform,
- Health care delivery models for patient with chronic diseases, and
- Quality improvement initiatives, including pay for performance.
Dr. Steinberg received her medical degree from the University of Texas at Dallas Southwestern Medical School and is also a M.P.H. graduate from the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston.
