UMass Medical School’s Center for Health Policy and Research was awarded a $5.6 million federal Medicaid Infrastructure and Comprehensive Employment Opportunities (MI-CEO) grant for 2009, to be used to build Medicaid supports for the competitive employment of individuals with disabilities.
Funded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), with anticipated funding through 2011, the MI-CEO grant, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services, is intended to further the ability of individuals with disabilities to work.
The Principal and Co-Principal recipients of the grant are Jay Himmelstein, M.D., M.P.H. and Alexis Henry, Sc.D., OTR/L respectively.
A key program objective is to evaluate and promote the MassHealth CommonHealth program (the state’s Medicaid buy-in program), which allows workers with disabilities to obtain health insurance coverage on a sliding scale basis.
