A Message from Ronald J. Steingard, M.D.
UMass Medical School's Center for Health Policy and Research occupies a unique place in the realm of research, evaluation, and education in health policy. Based within and drawing upon the resources of one of the nation’s premier public medical schools, the Center for Health Policy and Research works closely with state and federal policy-makers and managed care organizations to improve the evidence base for effective policy decision-making.
With a staff that includes full-time faculty researchers, biostatisticians, clinicians, data managers, professional consultants, and experienced project managers, the Center has extensive expertise in conducting applied health policy research, evaluation, and education. Additionally, we have a nationwide network of collaborative partners in academic and other policy research settings that enhances our ability to provide cutting-edge service to our clients.
This model of partnership carries over into our client relationships as well. We strive to build effective partnerships with our state and federal agency and managed care clients, creating project teams in which the client is an integral, participative member.
The Center’s mission is to develop innovative theoretical knowledge and translational research that improves the health and well-being of people served by public agencies and managed care organizations, from the bedside to the community. We look forward to working with you to achieve that goal.
Ronald J. Steingard, M.D.
