UMass announces president awards
Date Posted: Monday, July 22, 2013The University of Massachusetts has announced $830,000 in awards for faculty science and technology projects, including grants to Melissa J. Moore, PhD, Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator, the Eleanor Eustis Farrington Chair in Cancer Research and professor of biochemistry & molecular pharmacology; Celia Schiffer, PhD, professor of biochemistry & molecular pharmacology and co-director of the Institute for Drug Resistance; and Anastasia Khvorova, PhD, professor of molecular medicine, to create a research center "focused on creating a validation laboratory where early stage technologies can be tested”; and Mark Klempner, MD, executive vice chancellor for the UMass Biologics Laboratory, to support the MassBiologics Gene Therapy Vector Manufacturing Center.
