How to Apply to Oasis Professional Education and Training Programs

Please submit a new application for each Oasis program, regardless of any past program participation.

Also, please note that tuition and fees paid for our training programs are non-refundable.

Application for the Practicum in MBSR and the Teacher Development Intensive:

Please apply using our online application form. We use the same application form for both the Practicum in MBSR and the Teacher Development Intensive (although you can only apply to one program at a time).

You will need to have your CV/Resume available on your computer before you begin filling out the application form because you will attach it to the application form and you cannot submit the form without the CV/Resume. The CV/Resume should be in MS Word or PDF format.

Application Fee

After you submit your application, you must pay a $50 application fee. The application fee is non-refundable, regardless of your final acceptance status.

You have three options for paying this application fee:

  1. Click here to make an online payment using MasterCard or Visa; or
  2. Call Jessica in our office at 508-856-1084 to make a credit card payment over the phone (we can accept payment with American Express, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover cards over the phone); or

Teacher Certification Review:

We do not yet have an online application for Teacher Certification Review. To apply, please write an application letter as described below. You will also need to send us a current CV or resume.

Please send these documents to us as attachments in an email message to:
CFM.OASIS@umassmed.edu.  
The attached documents must be in PDF or Microsoft Word format.

Please attach:

Your current CV or resume, which includes information about your professional training and graduate degree, if any, in the fields of health care, psychology, education or a related field.

A letter of application that includes all of the following,

  • Your name, postal address, phone number, and email address.
  • The name and dates of the program for which you are applying.
  • A list of other Oasis trainings that you have attended, dates, and location (if applicable)
  • How you meet all of the program's prerequisites including:
    • A personal meditation practice
    • Attendance at the required number of 5-10 day silent, teacher-led mindfulness meditation retreats.
    • Any other requirements listed on the web page for your program.
  • How you learned about this program, what draws you to participate in it, and your vision or intentions for integrating it into your work.
  • A description and brief history of pathways of inner development that you have intentionally explored in depth (e.g. awareness practices, psychological investigations)..
  • A description and brief history of your meditation training, the tradition(s) in which you practice, your regularity of practice, all teacher-led retreats you have attended, and the meaning of practice in your life and work.
  • A description and brief history of your yoga or other bodywork training and practice.
  • A description and brief history of your teaching of MBSR. 

You will also need to send us a complete portfolio, as described here.
