Mark Quirk, EdD
Title: Director, Community Faculty Development Center (CFDC), Professor and Associate Chair, Department of Family Medicine & Community Health and Assistant Dean for Academic Achievement.
Bio: Dr. Quirk has published more than 60 articles related to behavioral and social science research and medical education and served on numerous invited national panels. He has delivered invited keynote addresses and panel presentations on doctor-patient communication and medical education at national conferences for the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the American Osteopathic Association, the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, the Association for American Medical Colleges, the Generalists in Medical Education and the International Association of Health Psychologists. He has published two books on teaching and learning in medical education, the latest entitled: Intuition and Metacognition in Medical Education: Keys to Developing Expertise published by the Springer Publishing Company (2006). He is the 2006 recipient of the national Excellence in Education award from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and the 2009 recipient of the Lamar Soutter Award for Excellence in Medical Education at Umass Medical School.
