Mary Philbin, EdM
Title: Instructor and Director of Faculty Development, Department of Internal Medicine, University of Massachusetts Medical School
Bio: Ms. Philbin designs and presents Faculty Development sessions for the Department of Medicine, coordinates curriculum and designs appropriate evaluations for resident and continuing education programs. She serves as faculty and presenter for CFDC programs, including the Teaching of Tomorrow series, and for the first year medical student course, Physician, Patient and Society. Ms. Philbin is also Director of Education and Training for the Massachusetts Area Health Education Center (MassAHEC) Network at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, with responsibility for curriculum development, including cultural competency, communication, health literacy and medical interpreting.Previously she was director of the UMass Standardized Patient Program, where she taught students, residents and community-based physicians. Ms. Philbin also served as a consultant to the National Board of Medical Education and the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.
