Information About Retrieving Your Sequencing or GeneMapper Data

The Data is stored on the PMM server in the CFAR folder which permits GUEST login. The PMM server is inside the UMass Firewall which requires a secure (on-network) connection or the UMass VPN software (if you're working off-site). We will be migrating the data as well as some new analytical tools to the CFAR server in the near future.

If you have a Windows PC , please MAP A NETWORK DRIVE to \\pmm\cfar

If you have a Mac OSX computer you can choose a server (apple K) and open
afp://pmm.umassmed.edu   then login to the CFAR folder as guest
You may also use you network browser for afp connection.

OR... alternatively you may be able to login on the network by, opening NETWORK , selecting WORKGROUP , and choosing PMM . At login prompt, use the name GUEST (no password), then choose the CFAR Folder .

Sequencing Data and GeneMapper Data are stored in the designated folders. If you submitted your order ticket via email, you will receive an email indicating the subfolder where your results have been stored. The subfolders have an 8-character name based on the analysis date and the casette name. If you turned in a 96-well plate for analysis, this subfolder name will be followed by your initials. For example Regis Kittler's data from July 11th 2006 in casette E would be in subfolder   071106_E_RK , and the individual samples analyzed that day in casette B would be in subfolder  071106_B_SEQ . If you do not want your data stored on the PMM server, then you may arrange for your data to be stored on a flash drive (yours), burned onto a CD for a nominal fee, or uploaded to your own server.

The Sequening Data is stored as AB1 files, and the GeneMapper Data is FSA file format. The subfolders also contain the load sheet (incase you need help finding your samples or don't remember your sample names or maybe we just couldn't read your handwriting and gave them goofy names). GeneMapper subfolders will also contain an image of the array. If you submitted a 96-well plate, you will also have the QC data in your subfolder. Those submitting individual samples, may request the QC data and array image by sending us an email at CFAR@umassmed.edu

Our DNA Fragment analysis program is growing. We will update our users as new services and improvements to existing services are made available. If you have suggestions or questions, please send us email at CFAR@umassmed.edu
