New Confocal Microscope Helps Student Make Discovery
Recently the Cell Biology Confocal Core Facility acquired a new Leica TCS SP5 II laser scanning confocal microscope. The new microscope will assist faculty students and staff with their research discoveries. Like the discovery featured in a UMass Med NOW article about, Nikki Rosetti, a Summer Student in the Undergraduate Research Program working in the Jeffrey Nickerson Lab last year. Using the confocal microscope Nikki worked with Alex Quaresma, a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Nickerson Lab. Her poster mRNA Nuclear Export Protein Binding is Regulated by the Phosphatidylinositol Signaling Pathway in Live Cells was named the best in the class.
