Upon arrival at UMMS

Check-in at the ISSO – International students, employees and medical residents / fellows must make an appointment with an Immigration Specialist at the ISSO so that your employment eligibility can be verified and your immigration status validated.  To avoid delays in processing your appointment, please be sure to bring the required documentation to this appointment.

UMMS Graduate Students:  Upon your arrival, please contact the ISSO to schedule an appointment.  This must be done within 30 days of the start date on your visa document (Form I-20).

Scholars / Employees:  The HR representative for your department / position will contact you to schedule your appointment with an ISSO Specialist.  If you do not have this appointment scheduled, you can also contact the ISSO directly to schedule.

Graduate Medical Education: Upon your arrival, please contact the ISSO to schedule an appointment.  This must be done within 30 days of the start date on your visa document, preferrably before July 1.

Mandatory Orientation Sessions – All new students and employees are required to attend one or more mandatory orientation sessions. 

UMMS Graduate Students:  Please contact the graduate school directly to find out when your orientation program will be scheduled.

Scholars / Employees:  The HR representative for your department / position will contact you to schedule for both the HR and the ISSO orientation programs.  Please contact them directly to schedule your orientation session. 

Graduate Medical Education:  Please contact Graduate Medical Education directly to find out when your orientation program will be scheduled.
