The Clinical Base Year (CB)

The Clinical Base year offered by UMass as part of a four-year residency consists of the following rotations:
  • three months of ward medicine
  • three months of surgery (one month each of trauma, vascular, and colorectal surgery)
  • one month of emergency medicine
  • one month of critical care
  • three months of internal medicine subspecialties (one month each of cardiology,
           pulmonology, and nephrology)
  • one month of anesthesiology

For applicants matching in March, 2010, we will offer four residency positions that will include the Clinical Base year and that will begin July 1, 2010.
