Research & Policy Analysis

Three teenage palsThe Research and Policy Analysis division of the Center for Adoption Research disseminates knowledge about foster care and adoption policy and practice to policy makers and health care professionals.  The goal is to share research and policy analysis knowledge in key areas that will have an influence on policies and programs in order to improve the lives of children in adoptive and foster families.

Our experienced team members have backgrounds in public policy, social work and counseling.


Our areas of specialty include: 

Policy Briefs 
The Center for Adoption Research periodically publishes summary papers highlighting important policy decisions and/or practice-related news.

Best Practice Dissemination 
Through reports, newsletters and community involvement, staff at CAR strives to actively bridge the gap between research and practice. 

Program Evaluation 
Our research staff has expertise in the development and implementation of program evaluations designed to assess the effectiveness of a wide range of social service programs.

Data Compilation and Analysis 
Through tracking, compiling, and analyzing foster care and adoption data, researchers at CAR are able to identify emerging trends.  Such trends may help inform social service agencies as well as policy makers.
