The Neurology Residency Program at the UMass Medical School is designed to both train and to educate residents in the clinical and scientific aspects of neurology. Given this rapidly changing field of medicine, a neurology residency program must prepare its trainees for their varied roles in the future, yet provide the solid clinical grounding that will assure their success.

It is our goal to prepare superb clinicians, experienced in all aspects of neurological disease, and well-educated clinical neuroscientists, fully informed about the structure and function of the nervous system. With these resources, even as neurology continues to grow in the future, you will be able to succeed in virtually any area of neurologic practice, research or other academic pursuit.

While assuring a core clinical experience — one with extensive teaching, close supervision and broad patient contact — we also encourage our residents to explore areas of special interest and concentrate some of their time in specific fields.

"The Neurology Residency at UMass equips one for life with skills that allow for successful practice of neurology in both academic and private setting.  You will leave UMass a better person, not only professionally but also on a personal level."
