The University of Massachusetts Worcester campus is conveniently located in central Massachusetts. UMASS Memorial Health Care, the largest health care system serving central and western MA, is our clinical partner. The medical school and clinical affiliate share adjoining buildings.
Lazare Research Building
The Lazare Research Building , anchors the UMMS’ research enterprise and provides an exceptional research environment with nine floors of laboratory and office space configured to accommodate existing disciplines, experimental approaches and emerging programs.

Ambulatory Care Center (ACC)
The ACC is a seven-story, 258,000-square-foot building that houses a mix of clinical care centers and research programs.
Located on the south side of the University Campus, 55 Lake Avenue North, across from the main hospital, the ACC attaches directly to the South Road Patient and Vistor Parking Garage and is directly accessible from three floors.
The ACC will accommodate 183,000 patient visits a year and features
- Spacious treatment and exam rooms, and waiting areas
- Radiology services close to your clinic resulting in less travel for patients
- Close parking in our adjacent garage, as well as valet parking services
- Easy access to clinical research trials helping bring the latest technology, medications and breakthroughs to the bedside

Albert Sherman Center
The $400-million Albert Sherman Center will expand and unify the UMass Medical School’s Worcester campus, double its research capacity and support the school’s new learner-centered curriculum. This interdisciplinary, state-of-the-art research and education facility will foster interaction and collaboration among scientists and promote innovation and synergies across disciplines. The 480,000-square-foot Sherman Center, scheduled to open in late 2012, will attract researchers, physicians, faculty, students and industry partners, enhancing the Medical School’s position as a leader in medical research and education.
There are numerous institutions of higher learning in the area offering culturally diverse activities. The campus is accessible by local bus and taxicab services.
