Drinking Study Rewarded

Linzy Hendrickson received the Suzannah Bliss Tieman Award for the best poster by a graduate student at the 17th Northeast Under/graduate Research Organization for Neuroscience (N.E.U.R.O.N.) conference, held at Boston Latin School on Nov. 22, 2009. Linzy is a fourth-year graduate student conducting thesis research in the laboratory of Dr. Andrew Tapper at the Brudnick Neuropsychiatric Research Institute. Her research addresses the contribution of alpha-4 subtype-containing nicotinic receptors in voluntary alcohol consumption in mice. In September, Linzy was also awarded an individual Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA pre-doctoral fellowship to support her work.
At the N.E.U.R.O.N. meeting, GSBS Program in Neuroscience students Yuly Fuentes-Medel, Kim Kerr, and Hendrickson presented research posters, and Neuroscience Program Director Dave Weaver presented a poster about graduate school opportunities at UMass Medical School.
