2008 CPHR Graduate, Hongliu Ding, MD, MPH, PhD, to Join Harvard Medical School as Research Fellow
December 08, 2009
Hongliu Ding, MD, MPH, PhD
Dr. Ding will join in Dr. Clemens Scherzers Neurogenomics group at Brigham and Women's Hospital of Harvard Medical School as a genetic epidemiologist focusing on analyzing and conducting genetic, gene expression, integrative genomic, and laboratory biomarker studies nested in Harvard NeuroDiscovery Center Biomarker Study (HBS). Currently, there are nine active biomarker studies nested in HBS examining analytes ranging from metabolites, to proteins, to mRNAs, to DNA. As a Research Fellow, Dr. Ding will work rather independently, to analyze large-scale, cross-sectional and longitudinal SNP data sets, mRNA and microRNA gene expression data sets, and clinical data. By analyzing expression Quantitative Trait Loci, pathways, networks, and other innovative integrative genomics approaches first on individual data sets and then on combined data sets, these analyses will identify much-needed univariate or multivariate biomarkers of risk, disease progression, and predictors of prognosis for Parkinsons and Alzheimers disease.
