Professional Development

Professional Development

As strong supporters of lifelong learning, the leadership of UMass Medical School’s Clinical Pharmacy Services is committed to providing employees with personalized, individual growth opportunities. Since many staff members have taught at colleges of pharmacy, their experience in academia shapes our approach to learning and education throughout the organization, whether we are talking with health care professionals, residents, and students — or developing new material and policies, implementing initiatives, or evaluating outcomes.

Professional and personal development training programs are offered internally through Clinical Pharmacy Services, as well as through UMass Medical School’s Workplace Learning courses.

Clinical Pharmacy Services offers a wide variety of opportunities for employees to develop themselves professionally.

Conference Attendance
Our staff members regularly attend — and often present academic research at — pharmacy-related conferences throughout the nation.

Continuing Education
With trained academicians on our team, we are able to provide on-the-job continuing education for all staff members.

Internships
Doctoral-level pharmacy students join our team for four to six weeks of hands-on experience in medication management.

Mentorship
We have a formal, personalized mentoring program for staff members who want to advance their careers within Clinical Pharmacy Services.

Peer-Reviewed Publications, Presentations, and Certifications
Our publications are reviewed by key stakeholders at our clients’ organizations and at UMass Medical School.

Residency/Fellowship
We offer postgraduate pharmacists the opportunity to join a professional team, achieve individualized goals, and receive named credit on their publications. Residents gain comprehensive knowledge of managed care pharmacy while providing optimal patient care; fellows focus on participating in and publishing research that promotes safe, effective, cost-efficient pharmaceutical care and management.
