ACC

The Ambulatory Care Center (formerly known as the Advanced Center for Clinical Care, Education and Sciences or ACCES) is a seven-story, 258,000-square-foot building that will house a mix of ambulatory clinical care centers and clinical and translational research programs; departments are scheduled to move in beginning in the fall of 2009 through summer 2010. Located on the south side of the University campus across from the main UMass Memorial Medical Center facility, ACC attaches directly to the west side of the South Road Garage and will be directly accessible from three floors of the South Road visitor parking garage. Architecturally, ACC compliments the existing campus buildings and is being built to meet environmentally sustainable standards (LEED Silver). The design maximizes natural light and views of the campus and nearby Lake Quinsigamond, with floor-to-ceiling windows throughout.

ACC will provide integrated, patient-centered care supported by a full array of diagnostic tests, including radiology services, in a state-of-the-art, comfortable and easily accessible environment. It will be home to the Clinical Facility for Innovative Research and Education (CFIRE); UMass Memorial Heart and Vascular, Musculoskeletal, Cancer and Diabetes and Endocrinology patient care Centers of Excellence; as well as diagnostic imaging and radiology services and the UMass Medical School Department of Quantitative Health Sciences.

Additionally, the new facility will house resources to conduct advanced clinical research to accelerate the translation of scientific breakthroughs into clinical applications.
