This MALDI TOF TOF instrument offers true 20 kV high energy CID which also includes the metastable decay fragments (PSD) which are resolved in a curved field reflectron which allows for the simultaneous focusing of all fragment ions. A dual timed ion gate provides for precise precursor selection for both CID and PSD analysis which is accomplished with a differentially pumped collision cell. Also the instrument can be operated in Linear mode which allows for intact protein mass measurement.


The Axima TOF² installed in 2006 is used for identification of proteins and
the characterization of chemical and post-translational modifications. This
instrument is particularly useful for de novo sequencing of novel peptides.
